A ten-ounce shelter for ultralight backpacking.

Save some space in your backpack by replacing a big, bulky tent with the Brooks-Range UltraLite Guide Tarp. Made from Brooks-Range's Ultralight waterproof nylon ripstop, the UltraLite Guide Tarp is surprisingly resilient against rainy and windy weather. Extremely Functional

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

As an avid backpacker residing in Utah, I got this ultralight tarp thinking that it would be an awesome substitute for a tent during the hot, hot summer months. I received the tarp, started putting it up in my yard, and got really excited as I brainstormed all of the other uses it will have. This may be one of the most versatile pieces of gear I now own. For camping it can be used as a lightweight tent, shelter for kitchen area/gear, footprint substitute, tent porch, sunshade, etc. If you're looking to use it as a tent, you must have trekking poles or use trees to tie it to. It comes with lots of cord and there are three ribbon loops on each side and every corner of the tarp, making it easy to setup and versatile for any camp space. There is a patch kit included to repair any tears or holes. The tarp itself is really burly for how light it is. It's ripstop fabric, reinforced on the corners and in the middle, and sealed on all the corners and seams. There is velcro on both ends to fold it in half and use as a smaller shelter. This tarp would also be handy for car camping- throw it in if the weather is sketchy or create a sunshade in the hot weather. Looking forward to testing this through the elements, it's so lightweight I'm going to just keep it in my backpack.
